Rutland Herald: France no vote has no effect on EU Stock Markets

Rutland HeraldThe European Union is not a rubble-strewn economic wasteland after the no vote in France, but still one of the best places to invest say financial analysts.

Some market speculation held that Eastern Europe would be worse affected by a French rejection, on the theory that it would set back the cause of European unity and reduce the chances of the euro's being adopted in that region. But markets in the Czech Republic and Poland showed small gains. Even Turkey, whose desire to join the European Union was widely believed to have hurt the constitution's chances in France, showed a gain. Nothing is expected to change also when the Dutch vote no.
