Iraq key to bombings in London
The London attacks targeted the capital of a country that is a member of the U.S.-led war in Iraq. Following the London attack there was an announcement by a group calling itself "The Secret Organization of al-Qaida in Europe,'' which warned Denmark and Italy to expect "the same punishment if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan." Italy has announced it will withdraw it troops, "not because it was threatened, but because it had already been planned before."
