Erie Plastics expands caps plant in Hungary

Erie Plastics of the US has opened its expanded plant in Hungary for production of injection moulded closures. Capacity has been doubled at the Székesfehérvár plant, which produces closures for bottled water. Erie estimates it has a 2% global market share for bottled water closure production. Chairman and chief executive Hoop Roche said: “Demand from France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain and the UK is driving our European plant expansion; and we expect to keep growing.” Erie installed four 300-tonne Husky Hylectric injection moulding machines as part of the expansion project. The plant in Hungary is shared by Erie with strategic partner, Loranger Ipari, which produces precision engineered metal and plastic components.
