Dutch Ambassador: Corruption, bureaucracy hold Romania back

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Jaap Werner, is confident of Romania's future development. However, he said that there are still weak points on the market which hinder foreign investors, such as shady political and business practices. He said corruption is a critical Achilles-heel in Romania's final sprint to EU-membership.
At the same time, the ambassador admitted that the troubled year which is ending taught him that Romanians are a strong and inventive people, able to cope with many sorts of distress and challenges at the same time. "Never a dull moment here", he added, saying this is a famous expression among foreign diplomats who work in Romania.
