A prominent journalist with the leading Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz, Levy rejects descriptions of Ariel Sharon as peacemaker, father figure, or nation builder. He says a more honest reading of Mr Sharon's legacy is that of a man who built Jewish settlements, master-minded the disastrous Israeli invasion of Lebanon, and who launched a draconian crackdown on the Palestinian civilian population.Ariel Sharon's legacy is the legacy of the State of Israel in the last 60 years in which almost the only language which was used was the language of violence and power.
