Do what I say, or else!by Barbara Simpson

The hypocrisy of the American media is astonishing

"Example: I know of, and have been in, a politically correct newsroom. (Actually, they all are.) They take great care not to offend minorities and certainly now, with the sensitivity shown to all things Muslim, there's enormous care to be respectful of Islam. One wonders then about their sensitivity when there are two color photographs on the newsroom bulletin board showing Pope Benedict during the consecration in a Roman Catholic mass. In one, he's raising the chalice and in the other, he's raising the eucharist. Except that the chalice has been replaced digitally by a pilsner glass of beer and the eucharist by a giant pretzel. A caption is written across the top: "Changes in Rome.Apparently those videos of Islamic beheadings of kidnapped Westerners have gotten the result they wanted from our media: fear. That fear is translated into a silent censorship betraying our treasured and fragile freedoms of press and speech.
