Kia's Key to Europe?

Achtung Volkswagen! Kia is about to launch a bold attack on Europe's best-selling car, the VW Golf, combining European design savvy, quality interiors, and low manufacturing costs from its new factory in Slovakia. "Our workers at the Zilina (Slovakia) plant will produce 100 cars per employee a year -- the same productivity as Toyota (TM)," says Jean-Charles Lievens, Kia's top European exec and a Toyota Europe veteran. Lievens says Kia is targeting overall European auto sales of 500,000 cars by 2008, up from 300,000 last year.
