Berlusconi, Prodi wrap up campaign
ROME (AP) - Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi, calling his supporters an "army of freedom," asked for five more years in office Friday as he and his centre-left rival wrapped up a bitter campaign ahead of a general election Sunday and Monday. Both leaders held final rallies in Italian piazzas before thousands of cheering, flag-waving supporters.
Thousands of people streamed into Rome's Piazza del Popolo for the centre-left rally. Some used the cover of The Economist magazine - which featured a picture of Berlusconi and the world "Basta" (Enough) - as a poster. "That's exactly how we feel, we're fed up with him," said 38-year-old Simone Frattari, who was at the rally.
