Cool reception for EU in latest poll
The Eurobrometer survey was carried out across the EU in the aftermath of constitutional rejection. According to the results published on Friday, in France and the Netherlands there has been “a slight increase in the feeling that their country has not benefited from EU membership (up four points.)”But the poll finds that cooler relations with Europe are not only attributed to constitutional fall out. The good news for Brussels is that support for the idea of a European constitution remains widespread. Sixty-three per cent of European citizens support the concept of a constitution for the EU, against 21 per cent who oppose this idea.
