Berlusconi's Mondadori In Talks To Acquire Emap France - by Chris Noon

London - They say you should remount a horse immediately after suffering a fall--and Il Cavaliere--as Italy's recently deposed Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is popularly known--has climbed straight back into the saddle. Italian book and magazine publishing group Arnoldo Mondadori Editore, in which Berlusconi holds a controlling stake, is in exclusive talks to buy the French magazine business of the U.K.'s Emap, the two firms confirmed on Monday. Analysts expect Emap France, the French publisher of lads' mag FHM and celebrity-spotting almanac Closer, as well as TV listings guides Tele Star and Tele Poche--presumably its smaller sister--to fetch about Euro 450 million to Euro 650 million. A Mondadori spokeswoman told Forbes.com the two companies were still locked in negotiations, but the price tag would be "promptly communicated".
