Trade ball in U.S. court, EU says - by Angus Macswan
SAO PAULO, BRAZIL -- The United States must agree to make big cuts in its farm subsidies to help break the deadlock in struggling world trade talks, the European Union's trade chief said yesterday. Commissioner Peter Mandelson was speaking a day after senior officials from rich and developing nations agreed in Rio de Janeiro to revive the Doha round of talks on a global trade pact, which collapsed in July.
No date was set for talks to resume.
