Ukraine suspends NATO drive

The PM of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych paid honours this week to the European capital, he visited Brussels where side by side two head-quarters of the most influencial world organizations are situated: EU and NATO. Mr Yanukovych, for some reason, did not want to mention that attitude towards NATO in the Ukrainian society got worse approximately at the same time when many representatives of his party were carrying on an active anti-NATO propagarnda. In their subsequent questions, journalists were trying to find out from Mr Yanukovych whose interests would he represent: his party or the Ukrainian state which had long ago declared its official aim to enter NATO as soon as possible. In reply to this, the Ukrainian PM mentioned the interests of somebody else, namely Russia.

During his meetings with the representatives of the European Comissions things went easier: since there could be no speech about the beginning of NATO membership for Ukraine, all the statements were mainly about deepening and strengthening.
