Why did the European Union adopt a single currency?
There are various reasons that have led to the creation of the single currency. Among the benefits:
• The euro will make life simple when it comes to travelling both in Europe and outside the continent. It promotes price transparency and it will be easier to compare prices between countries.
• Economic and monetary union draws together millions of people from across Europe on a political, economic and social level. Apart from sharing a common passport, EU citizens now also share a common currency.
