Turkey to Help With Gaza Industrial Zone
A plan by Turkey to rebuild a Gaza industrial park is being revived and could provide a living for 7 percent of the 1.4 million Palestinians there, Israel's vice premier and a Turkey official involved in the project said Thursday. Earlier this week, Rifat Hisarciklioglu, the head of the Turkish Chambers of Commerce and Bourses, raised the issue in separate meetings with Israeli Vice Premier Shimon Peres and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Peres said Thursday that the plan for rebuilding the Erez industrial zone, frozen after the Islamic militant Hamas took control of the Palestinian government a year ago, was back on track.
