Investments - It may be time to stop ignoring Europe

Some fund managers claim it does not pay to be eurosceptic when considering which funds to put in your individual savings account (Isa) before this year's tax shelter allowances expire on April 6. People seeking income from equities, they say, should turn their eyes to Continental Europe.

Oliver Russ, manager of the Argonaut European Income fund, says one reason is that around the turn of the century "European companies started to catch up with yields on UK stock market. Because they stared from a lower point the yield growth has been remarkable. For instance, this year dividend growth has been around 20 per cent while it was only 10 per cent in the UK."
