Civility rules in Clinton, Obama debate - by Tim Harper

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama brought a civil tone to an often-rancorous campaign last night in an almost two-hour showdown that was as high stakes as it was historic. In a debate broadcast from Hollywood, Clinton was challenged on her message of change because her election would continue a two-decade dynasty of Clintons and Bushes in the White House, while Obama said he would be most electable this year because he could change the "mindset" in Washington that led to the invasion of Iraq. The two also debated the differences in their health care plans, immigration, tax cuts and experience in a nationally televised debate just five days before a virtual national primary that could essentially decide this Democratic nomination struggle. Clinton made no apologies for her husband Bill Clinton's eight years in office and drew loud applause when she said: "It did take a Clinton to clean up after the first Bush and I think it might take another one to clean up after the second Bush."
