German BMW expanding S.C. plant; 500 new jobs
BMW says it will spend euro 490 million (US$ 750 million) to expand its manufacturing facility in South Carolina and create 500 new jobs. The company said Monday it will add 1.2 million square feet of production space and work already has begun with the construction of new paint shop facilities. The company says it will build a new hybrid vehicle unveiled in the fall and diesel-powered models at the plant.
