The European Commission could penalise Romania for not respecting EU environmental laws, an European Parliament member says.
According to Magor Imre Csibi, Brussels may even launch an infringement
procedure against Romania for failing to comply with the Nature 2000
programme.
This includes around 1,000 protected areas in Romania where development in the area is strictly forbidden.
