Spains seeks to reform labour contracts - by Mark Mulligan

The Spanish government is seeking to close the gap between wildly contrasting conditions offered under permanent and temporary job contracts under draft labour reforms due to be unveiled in two weeks.

According to state-run Radio Nacional de EspaƱa, which says it has seen the proposed law, Madrid wants to phase out an inefficient two-tier system which makes it onerously expensive and bureaucratic to fire most workers yet gives others few rights.
