Death toll rises to 10 in flooding in central Europe

The death toll from flooding in central Europe has risen to 10 as Poland's interior minister says two more people have died in the southwestern region of the country. The flooding struck an area near the borders of Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic.

Heavy rains in Poland caused flooding in the southwestern town of Bogatynia and one person was already reported dead on Saturday.

In the northern Czech Republic, three men drowned in a region on the border with Poland and Germany Saturday. A fourth victim was found drowned late Saturday. Another three persons drowned in the eastern Germany state of Saxony on Saturday. Several roads and villages were flooded by the swelling Neisse river as rescue workers used rubber boats to evacuate hundreds from their homes in the city of Goerlitz.
