Terrorism: The fiscal impact of 9/11: Billions lost to the war on terror - by Harvey Enchin

It may seem heartless to try to put a price tag on the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 that took the lives of nearly 3,000 people and affected the lives of so many more. No accounting can quantify the suffering and sorrow that continue to gnaw at the American psyche.

But the economic implications of that event and of the ongoing battle against terrorism that ensued cannot be ignored.

While the United States has incurred by far the lion's share of direct costs related to 9/11 and the security measures - including military interventions - that came about thereafter, Canada has had to cope with their economic consequences.
