Aircraft Industry: A new breed of aircraft from Russia

The new Russian MC-21

Russian aircraft manufacturer Irkut Corporation has showcased a shell of a new generation aircraft, MC-21. With an order book of 235 aircraft, MC-21 has already generated interest in the aviation industry. 

“Of the total orders, 128 are confirmed orders. We are going to have a first flight by the end of 2012 and deliveries would begin in 2014,” Mr Kirill Budayev, Vice-President (Sales and Marketing), of Irkut Corporation, said. 

Price of MC-21 variants are put in a range of $68-78 million. MC-21 flights are four times quieter than comparable aircraft. They offer more aisle space to allow passengers to walk even while trolleys are ferried along, he claimed.
