Poland's economic upswing attracts investment

Wroclaw attracted Korean flatscreen manufacturers, Poznan has a massive VW factory, the local beer and cigarette factories were bought up before EU induction, there is a healthy oil refining industry, the Koreans are making cars, and the French and British are vying for control of the megamarket retail segment (and not making money),

EU funding is (finally) financing the Moscow-Berlin Motorway that was proposed ages ago, but which previously ended at the Belarus border, and resumed at the German border. Many Western companies install entire accounting departments in Poland due to its low cost of labor.

Eastern Poland, closer to the old Soviet sphere of influence (Bialystok, etc) is in far worse shape, and once you cross through Warsaw into Silesia, things improve markedly.

They have a major port up in Tri-city, plus a spectacular beach in Sopot.
